Reliability Centered Maintenance requires a detailed level of analysis to drill down to understand the likely failure modes, their effects and to choose the optimum combination of tasks that will make up the maintenance plan. Consideration needs to be given to the optimal type of task, the frequency, its effectiveness and the benefit of performing such tasks.
When developing the maintenance plan, the efficiency of performing each task is considered along with other tasks that when grouped have most efficient use of resources and minimal disruption to operating equipment. Because of all the dependencies, a simulation tool using RCM logic is of benefit.
